Pull people in only when it matters

Grove asks for your attention only when you're the person who must act, so the things that need you stand out.

Written by Jack Meyers

Most tools tell you about everything. Then nothing stands out, and the one thing that needs you gets lost. Grove does the opposite: it asks for your attention only when you're the one who must act.

What Grove asks you for

Your Queue shows only what's waiting on you:

  • Threads where it's your turn. For example, a builder asked you a question, or someone is waiting on your reply. Threads on projects you lead count. Threads where someone else must answer don't.

  • Questions Grove asked you in a chat.

  • The setup checklist, for admins.

On a project, an outcome tagged Needs you is the only delivery state that asks you for something. You see it on the project's Scope tab. Work that is still being built, or still being checked, asks nothing of you. Waiting isn't a problem, so Grove doesn't ask you to watch it.

What Grove doesn't do

  • No notifications for every change. When someone raises a thread, Grove doesn't send emails or messages. The thread goes to the right person's Queue.

  • No nagging. If a decision is blocked, Grove says so once, and writes it down. It doesn't keep asking.

  • No extra questions. Grove asks only questions that would change its work.

Why this works

When your Queue is short, you can clear it, and get back to planning. When something lands on it, you know it really needs you.
