When a project belongs somewhere else, move it to another initiative. When work is finished or no longer needed, archive it.
Move a project to another initiative
A project keeps everything when it moves: its name, outcomes, requirements, documents, and links.
In the Work table:
Go to Work › Projects.
Click the project's Initiative cell. To move several projects, tick them first.
Search for the initiative, and pick it.
In the confirmation, click Move project.
You can move up to 100 projects at once. You can't move a project by dragging it between groups.
With Grove: ask in the chat, such as "Move P-003 to the Pro tools initiative." Grove tells you the project, where it is now, and where it will go, and asks you to confirm.
Both initiatives must already exist. You can't move a project out of an archived initiative.
Archive work
Archive projects, initiatives, or Scratchpad items you're done with. There's no delete in Grove. Archiving is how you remove work.
Important: You can't undo archiving in Grove. To get archived work back, contact Grove support.
Archive projects or initiatives in the Work table:
Go to Work, and choose Initiatives or Projects.
Tick the rows to archive.
Click the Archive button next to View options.
Check the list in the confirmation, then click Archive.
Archive one project from the Scope document: on the project's card, click More actions, then Archive project.
When you archive an initiative, every project in it is archived too. The confirmation lists them.
With Grove: ask in the chat, such as "Archive P-002." Grove lists each project by ID and name, and asks you to confirm before it archives anything.
Archive a Scratchpad item with Grove: ask Grove to archive a document, visual, or decision guide, such as "Archive the Rescheduling research notes." Grove names the item it found and asks you to confirm. For a document, Grove also asks which of the visuals in it to archive with it.
Plan documents, such as Opportunity and Solution, Scope, and Requirements, can't be archived. Neither can Grove's working notes.
What happens to archived work
It disappears from the Work tables, the Queue, and the Scratchpad. There's no list of archived work.
Its documents and threads can't be opened. A link to one says the document has been archived.
If someone has an archived Scratchpad item open, they see a message, such as "Research notes was archived," and go back to the project's or initiative's page.
Where a document showed an archived visual, it now shows a one-line note with the visual's name.
Nobody can change it, and Grove can't read it.
