You can work with Grove from an AI assistant you already use. Connect it once, and your assistant can look up, create, and update your initiatives and projects. This is useful when you review what's in flight, move a roadmap in from another tool, or want to save an idea right away.
The connection uses MCP (Model Context Protocol). MCP is a standard way to connect an AI assistant to another app. Your assistant must support custom MCP connectors.
Connect your assistant
In Grove, click your picture at the bottom right, then Connect your agent.
Stay on the Create & manage work tab.
Copy the address under Add Grove as a custom connector in your agent. The address is
https://grovehq.app/api/mcp.In your assistant, add a custom connector (it can also be called a custom MCP server), and paste the address.
The first time your assistant uses Grove, it asks you to log in. Log in with your Grove account, and approve access.
Your assistant works in the workspace you log in to. It can see only the work that you can see in Grove.
Check that it works
Ask your assistant these two things:
"What initiatives already exist in my Grove workspace?"
"Add a project to [initiative] for [describe your idea]."
If your assistant says it has no access to Grove, check the address, or log in again.
What your assistant can do
Look up your initiatives and projects, and read their documents.
Create initiatives and projects.
Update details of an initiative or project, such as its name, description, status, lead, members, priority, and dates.
Write a project's outcomes and Requirements, and add documents and visuals to its Scratchpad.
Move a project to a different initiative.
Use threads: read them, raise a new one, reply, and settle them.
Archive initiatives and projects.
Grove tells your assistant to show you each change and get your OK before it makes it. Read the change before you say yes.
Important: Archiving can't be undone. Before you approve an archive, check the names and IDs your assistant lists.
Your assistant or Grove's chat?
Use your own assistant for quick changes, such as status updates, new ideas, or bulk changes to a roadmap. Use Grove's own chat to plan the work: it asks you questions, checks the plan against your strategy, and reads your code.
