Update status, lead, priority, and dates

Change a project's or initiative's name, status, lead, members, priority, and dates.

Written by Jack Meyers

You can change a project's or initiative's details on its page, in the Work tables, or by asking Grove. Anyone in the workspace can change them. Archived work can't be changed.

On the page

Open the project or initiative. Its details are at the top of its Overview.

  • Name: click the name, and type. A project name can have up to 6 words and 48 characters. It can use only letters, numbers, spaces, ' and &, and must be different from every other project in the workspace. An initiative name can have up to 10 words and 100 characters.

  • Description: click the line under the name, and type. It can have up to 200 characters.

  • Lead: click the lead's picture, or Set lead. Search for a person, or choose Unassigned.

  • Target: click Set date, and pick a day. To remove it, choose Clear.

  • More fields: click Add, then choose Priority, Members (projects only), or Start.

Priority

Click Set priority, then choose Urgent, High, Medium, or Low. Choose None to remove it.

Status

Click the status next to Project status or Initiative status.

Statuses

Project

Unplanned, Planning, Ready, Building, Built

Initiative

Unplanned, Planning, Building, Built

Some statuses change by themselves. For what each status means and when it changes, see How work moves through Grove, from idea to shipped.

In the Work tables

In Work, click a cell to change it. For several rows at once, tick them first. See Use the Work tables.

  • Projects: Status, Lead, Members, Target, Start date, and Priority.

  • Initiatives: Status, Lead, Target, Start date, and Priority. An initiative's members come from its projects, so you set them on each project.

Change names and descriptions on the item's page.

Ask Grove

In the chat, ask Grove, such as "Make Sam the lead on P-003, and set the target to the end of March." Grove shows you each value before and after the change, and waits for your yes. If a name matches more than one person, Grove asks which one you mean.
